Second Engineer / Jacking Engineer

Job Requirements:

·         In possession of a valid certificate of competence in accordance with STCW’95

·         2nd Engineer “All Vessels” – No limitations

·         Bachelor of Science degree in Electronics, or in general electronic education to middle and higher level (HTS / MTS level);

·         Minimum of 2 years experience on board Dynamically Positioned (DP) offshore construction vessels;

·         Minimum of 2 years experience on seagoing vessels;

·         Master in English in all aspects

·         Valid STCW ’95 / Offshore Certificates

Job Tasks:

·         The Second Engineer/Electrician is responsible for carrying out maintenance on all electrical equipment on the unit, and electronical equipment as within his capabilities and proficiency. Maintaining essential electrical services in an emergency.

·         Proficient and knowledgeable in the maintenance and repair of all electrical and electronic equipment on the unit, including overall house keeping within his area of responsibility.

·         Ensuring that proper electrical logs are kept.

·         Carrying out repairs and maintenance to the electric and electronic installation onboard the unit under the direction of the Chief Engineer/Second Engineer.

·         Reporting on spare parts used and articles required.

·         Daily routines and maintenance per checklists; ensure that the electrical installation and electronic equipment are in a condition complying with the applicable regulations.

·         The Second Engineer/Electrician shall especially comply with the requirements as contained in the standard NEN 3140 second revision, and associated regulation.

·         The Second Engineer/Electrician has the authority required to assure his responsibility for electrical safety. Following completion of the company’s familiarisation procedure(s), the Electrician confirms that he accepts the said responsibility.

·         The Second Engineer/Electrician shall ensure that sufficient work equipment is available to him to ensure that the work is completed as safe as possible.

·         The Second Engineer/Electrician shall be aware of the hazards associated of work which has to be carried out by, or the persons assigned to his responsibility for completion of the assigned work, without being exposed to any danger.

·         Thoroughly checking the jacking system before operating it (using provided checklist).

·         Review of all documentation relevant to a jacking operation.

·         Operating the jacking system in a safe manner.

·         Pre - loading the unit in a correct manner to the satisfaction of the Warranty Surveyor.

·         Ensure that the jacking system is shut down and left in a safe manner after completion of the operation.

·         In case of a rig move, prior to leaving the unit, advice the OIM of all the technical information to be included in the rig move report.
